    You will create your own terrarium to boost your health and wellbeing. Terrariums are great choice for those looking to create an indoor garden that doesn't require much maintenance or sunlight. You will also identify the health benefits of terrariums and indoor plants.

  • What you'll learn

    You will complete the following course outcomes:

    LO 1 Define the meaning of a ‘terrarium’ and explore the health benefits of terrariums and house plants.
    1.1 Use at least one full sentence to define the word ‘terrarium’.
    1.2 Identify at least five health benefits of terrariums and indoor plants.
    1.3 Use the internet to research at least 4 images of terrariums that appeal to you. Copy and paste your images into a Microsoft Word Document.
    1.4 Share your favourite image of a terrarium with your group to develop confidence in communicating with others.

    LO2 Design at least 1 terrarium and identify a range of materials needed to create a terrarium.
    2.1 Complete an annotated design of your terrarium, to include at least 3 materials you could use.
    2.2 Identify the purpose of using pebbles at the bottom of a terrarium.
    2.3 Identify the purpose of using charcoal or dried twigs before placing soil into your terrarium.
    2.4 Recognise the importance of not putting too many plants inside the container / terrarium.
    2.5 Complete a nature-walk, collect at least 3 natural materials for your terrarium and showcase your materials to your group to develop confidence in communicating with others.

    LO3 Create and evaluate at least 1 terrarium.
    3.1 Select at least 4 different natural and man-made materials and create at least 1 terrarium.
    3.2 Rate the quality of your terrarium/s on a scale of 1 to 5 and explain your rating.
    3.3 Showcase your terrarium to the group to develop confidence in communicating with others.
    3.4 Describe at least 2 ways this course or the task of making your own terrarium has improved your health and wellbeing.
  • Entry requirements

    To join the course you MUST be 19 or over with an interest and commitment to improving your overall health and wellbeing. Regular attendance and a basic level of English skills are also required of all learners.

    91ߣɫ recognises the achievements of its learners by presenting them with a certificate at the end of the course, rewarding their efforts and celebrating the skills that they have acquired.

    • A ring binder folder to keep your work organised is essential.
    • You will also need to bring a pen and a notepad to take notes.
    • You can bring your own device to support learning

    Assessment


    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.

    Financial


    You may not have to pay tuition fees at all, if you fall into one of the groups eligible for fee exemptions. If you feel you may be eligible or would like someone to explain course fees in more detail, pleasecontact us via our Live Chat service available on any page of our website.

    Adult Learners


    Adult learners (19+) must provide evidence of their existing qualification at enrolment. Learners may not be able to enrol if this information is not provided when requested. If you have lost any certificates please contact your school in the first instance. If they are unable to provide a copy, you can contact one of the following exam boards (your school will be able to tell you which one applies to the exams you took):
