    Our Apprenticeship programmes will give you vital hands-on experience, learning from real life situations, with the guidance of industry professionals. You’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to excel in your chosen career.

    A Plastering Apprenticeship is a great way to learn a very specific skill that will set you up for a rewarding career.

    You’ll learn the technicalities and skills required to plaster, including dry lining and fibrous plastering, which will allow you to create designs and patterns unique to you.

    You will be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace. You will also have the opportunity to compete in national skills competitions, such as Skill Build.

    The course is a great way to build on your skills and gain a recognised qualification whilst also earning a salary.

    The Benefits of an Apprenticeship
    Apprenticeships offer great opportunities for people of all ages; an Apprenticeship is a job with training to industry standards, enabling you to enter a recognised occupation. All Apprenticeships are employer led, and as well as providing long term earnings, they also give you the ability to progress.
    • You’ll earn a wage as you’re learning and are entitled to paid holidays.
    • You can earn 10% more after studying on a Level 3 Apprenticeship than if you went straight in to work.
    • 90% of apprentices remain in employment, either with their current employer or another company.
    • 85% of employers participate in Apprenticeship programmes and consider them a good thing.
    • You can train to post graduate level without incurring any university fees.
    • By passing an independent End Point Assessment, you will join thousands of people acquiring a modern and recognised qualification.

  • What you'll learn

    You will learn numerous skills and techniques including:

    • Care, use & maintenance of plastering tools
    • Knowledge of plastering tasks
    • Reading construction drawings & plans
    • Safe use of portable power tools
    • Manufacture of plastering models
    • Health & safety

    Apprenticeship programmes are usually taught on a day-release basis, meaning that you spend one day a week at College learning the knowledge that underpins your Apprenticeship and the rest of your working week with your employer.

    The College will also provide qualified Work Based Tutors to visit you in your workplace and help you develop a portfolio of evidence. You’ll spend part of the day meeting your Work Based Tutors to discuss this
    portfolio.

    You will also gain:
    • Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths & English, unless you have already achieved grades 8-4 at GCSE or equivalent
    • Employee Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)

    80% of your qualification will be gained in the workplace, although you may attend sessions in College that will cover the remaining essential areas of your training.

    During your Apprenticeship, you will have a dedicated Work Based Tutor who will train you to industry standards; support your time in employment; and coach you to pass your End Point Assessment.

    We’d like to see a proven track record of very good attendance at work/school, along with a good reference from school/a previous employer. We also ask that you have a satisfactory level of English and maths.
  • How will I be assessed?

    The end-point assessment (EPA) will assess how an apprentice can apply their skills, knowledge and behaviours acquired in their Apprenticeship, through the following three assessments:
    • Knowledge test – (this test will consist of multiplechoice questions)
    • Skills test
    • Professional discussion

    On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, you could progress onto full-time employment, professional job-specific qualifications, Higher Apprenticeships or a degree programme.

    • A Dry Liner, earning up to £30,000 per year
    • A Kitchen and Bathroom Fitter, earning up to £35,000 per year
