91ߣɫ’s talented beauty and hairdressing students embraced the spirit of Christmas on Friday,with a show-stoppingcompetition dedicated to thetheme of i.
Over 30 learners, studying Make-up Artistry Level 2 and Hair & Media Make-up Level 3,worked throughout the day to transform their modelsintoice queens, turning 91ߣɫinto a winter wonderland.
Modelling the styleswerefellow learners, friends and familywhoreceived far from a frosty receptionwhen theytook aturn on thecatwalk to showcase theirglacialstyle to an enthusiastic audienceof fellow students and tutors.
The learners had prepared for the competition by creating a digital and 3Dmood board on theicetheme.Judging the competition were an impartialteam of beauty and hairdressingtutorswho marked the competitors under four categories – Hair, Make-up, Costume and Creativity.
Winner forMake-up ArtistryLevel 2 was Alisha Ashton, whose model Olga Bliss wasadorned with snowflakes and ice,reminiscentof a crisp winter morning. Alisha walked awaywith a bag ofWellagoodies for her efforts.
EmmaAinscoughturned her model, daughter Beth Lomax, into an arctic unicorn,and was crowned winnerof the Hair & Media Make-up Level 3 students. Emma said, “I was over the moon to win, I’ve been working on Beth all morning and I was really happy with result. I love taking part in thesekindof events, it’s great to letmy imagination run wild and with the current cold spell, the theme of ice was rather fitting!”
Ella Ramsbottom,aHairdressingLecturerat 91ߣɫ,helped to organise the event andsaid, “I’m quite new to the College so this was one of the first big events I’ve been involved in. I was dazzled by the students’efforts and was particularly impressed with the talent of our learners. They all worked incredibly hard so it was lovely to see all of their efforts come to fruition.Competitions like this areagreatopportunityto practise andshow off the skills they’ve developedin class”.
